John and Francis Wald Memorial Scholarship
John and Francis Wald Memorial Scholarship was established in 1999. John Francis Wald was raised in Lone Wolf, OK and received a B. S. in Agronomy from Oklahoma A & M in 1940. While attending OSU, John hitchhiked to get from Lone Wolf to Stillwater and back home. Soon after graduation, he found himself involved in World War II and was killed in action in 1942. John’s sister Rose Marie (Wald) Coon and her husband (Dr. Lewis H. Coon) of Charleston, IL established the memorial fund as a means of honoring her brother.
This $500 scholarship is awarded to a plant and soil sciences student completing their sophomore year with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.5. The recipient may reapply for their senior year.
