Elbert W. Pogue Memorial Scholarship

Elbert W. Pogue Memorial Scholarship was established by four grandsons of Mr. Pogue.  Mr. Pogue was born March 29, 1891, in Greenwood, Arkansas.  In 1907 he moved to Stigler, Oklahoma.  In 1912 he attended Oklahoma A & M College and later joined the Army and served in Peking, China, but he broke his leg and was discharged.  In 1917 he returned to Tulsa to work in the oilfield and began a successful career in farming.  He planted apple and plum orchards and grew agriculture crops in the bottomland areas of the Arkansas and Cimarron Rivers.
