Buck and Irene Clements Centennial Scholarship
Buck and Irene Clements Centennial Scholarship in Plant and Soil Sciences was established by Buck and Irene Clements. Mr. Buck Clements is a long time resident and farmer in Oklahoma. He and Irene grew up on farms in southern Oklahoma during the depression. They bought their first farm of 300 acres near Ninnekah (just south of Chickasha) in 1947, and have utilized and fostered conservation farming practices since that time. Buck served for many years in the U. S. Department of Agriculture’s Soil Conservation Service, retiring as Deputy State Conservationist for Oklahoma. Upon retirement he returned to wheat and cattle farming at Ninnekah. He was honored by receiving the Farm Family of the Year Award at the Oklahoma Farm Bureau.
This $1,000 scholarship renewable for four years. It is awarded to a top high school senior planning to major in plant and soil sciences. The student must have a 3.0 GPA or above.
