International Travel -
Agronomic Science Foundation-Cross-Cultural Experience Program
The objective of this scholarship program emphasizes a summer learning and working experience for an undergraduate student to learn more about agricultural sciences and agricultural education through international agricultural programs. It also provides an opportunity for students to live and learn with students of another culture and language. The scholarship is made possible by a gift from the Lewis B. Nelson Fund to the Agronomic Science Foundation and administered by the American Society of Agronomy. The scholarship is in the amount of $2500.
Agronomic Science Foundation-Hank Beachell Future Leader Scholarship
The Hank Beachell Future Leader Scholarship was established in recognition of Dr. Beachell's commitment to advancing the knowledge of agriculture through his work in rice breeding and development. The purpose of this scholarship is to expand the agricultural knowledge of undergraduate students participating in activities that enhance their university studies. This scholarship is made possible by a gift from Hank Beachell to the Agronomic Science Foundation, and it is administered by the American Society of Agronomy. The scholarship is in the amount of $3500 plus negotiated travel expenses to the scholarship experience site. The scholarship will be awarded in two installments. The first installment of $2500 plus travel funds will be made at the ASA-CSSA-SSSA International Annual Meetings; the second installment of $1000 will be made upon receipt of a written report to the ASF Board of Trustees.
American Society of Agronomy-J. Fielding Reed Scholarship
The J. Fielding Reed Scholarship was established in recognition of Dr. Reed's life-long commitment to advancing the knowledge of agriculture through his work in soil science and natural resources, and his passion for educating students. Funds for the scholarship are made available through the Agronomic Science Foundation and administered by the American Society of Agronomy. The purpose of this scholarship is to honor an outstanding undergraduate senior pursuing a career in soil or plant sciences. The scholarship is in the amount of $1000.
National Corn Growers Association and BASF Corporation have teamed up to provide a new scholarship for ag students.
The NCGA Academic Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship Program awards five (5) $1,000 one-year scholarships to deserving, qualified second-year undergraduate students (or later) or graduate students enrolled in an agriculture, agribusiness, or ag vocation program at a 2-year or 4-year program of study at an accredited junior college, college or university.
Applicants must be members or dependents of a member of the National Corn Growers Association. Employees and the families of employees of any division of BASF or their subsidiaries are not eligible for the scholarship.
Application deadline is January 11, 2008.

First-year, transfer, and upper-class students can take advantage of scholarship opportunities. Scholarships are awarded as tuition waivers, cash awards or both, based primarily on academic achievement, potential, and/or leadership, and community service. Oklahoma State University scholarships are available at three different levels.
Regional and National Scholarships
College level
There are six different colleges within OSU. You must be majoring or plan to major within a specific college to qualify for these awards. The college of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources (CASNR) awards over $370,000 each year to incoming freshman and transfer students as well as currently enrolled students.
The deadline for current CASNR students to complete the online application is January 15 each year, while the deadline for transfer students is February 1.

Departmental level
CASNR has nine departments and twelve different majors. If you know the major you are interested in pursuing, you may qualify for the $380,000 available at the departmental level.
The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences awards numerous scholarships each year with a total value of over $40,000. Scholarships are available for entering freshman, transfer students and continuing students ranging from $300 to $6,000 per year.
If you declare a major in Plant and Soil Sciences, scholarship applications will be forwarded to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and then to the Department of Plant and Soil Sciences for consideration to receive a scholarship.

Freshman
To compete for these scholarships you
need to complete only one application: the Freshmen Scholarship

Transfer
To compete for all available scholarships from the university and the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources and its respective departments, new transfer students should complete two applications:

The "Undergraduate Application for Admissions/Scholarship" located in the "Applying to OSU" packet. To obtain a packet, contact the OSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 1-800-233-5019 ext 3 (in-state) or 1-800-852-1255 (out-of-state). This application has a priority deadline of February 1. However some general scholarship awards such as out-of-state tuition waivers will be given after the deadline (or until the funds are depleted). Therefore, you are welcome to complete the application after the February 1 deadline.

The CASNR on-line scholarship application. This on-line application is available on this Web site by December 10 preceding the year you plan to attend and is due February 1 of the year you plan to attend. If you miss the deadline, complete the application located in the "Applying to OSU" packet.

How will I be notified about an award?
Each unit is responsible for contacting students about their awards. Usually, most awards are made by middle to late March of the year you plan to attend. Most often, you are only contacted if you are awarded a scholarship.
