Students

The Plant and Soil Sciences department offers a comprehensive educational experience for undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in trying to solve some of the world’s most pressing needs with respect to food, feed, fiber and fuel. Students have the opportunity to develop the basic skills they need to become leaders in plant and soil-related professions. Students are also given the opportunity to focus their experience on a specific area of interest.

Picture of Jared CrainJared Crain, DASNR's International Student of the Week

Jared is a Plant and Soil Senior from Woodward, Oklahoma, and has done quite a bit of traveling in his four years at OSU. Thanks to his travels and OSU classwork, Jared speaks Spanish fairly well.

Jared has a number of activities to keep him busy when he’s not traveling. Besides taking a healthy course load every semester, he’s a member of Alpha Zeta and has the important job of treasurer for the Agronomy Club. He also volunteers as a small group leader for Oklahoma FFA Alumni Camp. Jared was very involved with FFA in high school, and still enjoys working with younger kids and agriculture. ...more
