OSU Student Employee of the Year announced

Yesterday, the OSU Student Employee of the Year was announced in a very nice reception opened by Dr. Marlene Strathe and Mr. Gary Clark. Plant and Soil Sciences student employee Katy Brookman was one of six finalists for the award.
Unfortunately, Katy was not selected employee of the year. However, she remains #1 to all of us here in PaSS! She did come away with a nice certificate and a basket of goodies. Ruth Mudrock, OSU Library received the 2008 OSU Student Employee of the Year Award. |

| Savannah is the sixth OSU student ever to receive this scholarship. Although Savannah is majoring in Environmental Science, we in Plant and Soil Sciences consider her one of our own. The Lew Wentz Foundation and OSU provide support for the nationally recognized Wentz Research Project awards. This is a one-year research project award ($4,500) given to undergraduate student scholars to conduct independent research with the guidance of a faculty mentor. more...

Dr. C. Michael French, associate director-programs for the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture’s Cooperative Extension Service, was honored Friday for his educational achievements with induction into the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame. Dr. French is an alumnus of Oklahoma State University, where he earned his master’s in 1975 and his Ph.D. in agronomy-weed science in 1978 from the Department of Agronomy. more... |

We actually heard it first from Dr. Jim Trapp of Oklahoma State University as we were traveling to the Great Wall on Tuesday morning Chinese time- the word that Gary Sherrer was gotten a medical report that is nothing short of fabulous- Gary has been battling cancer for several months now and has just heard from the Doctor that the mass they have been working on is gone- he will be taking a couple of additional treatments as insurance- but the report cheered our spirits over here in Asia. more...
PaSS Student is Featured as DASNR International Student of the Week

This week’s international student of the week is Yuriko Mori. She is a third year student in Plant and Soil Sciences. She was born in Fuji, Japan. Yuriko speaks Japanese and English. Yuriko is a member of ECO-OSU, a student organization devoted to increase awareness in environmental issues. Currently Yuriko is in Oregon as an exchange student. She will come back to OSU in fall 2008 to complete her degree. more...
